Putting is the best part of my game, and a part of my game that I enjoy to practice. Unfortunately, there are many people that do not find putting enjoyable to practice. As I have mentioned before, 80%+ of club golfers seem to be too busy working on their driver rather than working on their short game, which includes putting.
To put things into perspective, the maximum that any player will use their driver is 18 times, if for some reason they need it on a par three. It is almost unheard off that a player will only have 18 putts in a round of golf. Commonly with club golfers having 32 putts or better would be a great scenario, but one that does not occur very often. A US Tour player averages around 28 putts or better in a round of golf. There is no reason that any golfer in the world cannot achieve this.
You do not need to be big and strong and flexible to be a good putter. A young golfer though to any age can work on their skills and become the best putter in the world. All you need to achieve this is: 1. A strong ability to read the green; 2.A consistent stroke; and 3. Confidence in your stroke.
This sounds very simple, but gaining confidence, learning to read the greens well and having a consistent stroke, need to be worked on a very regular basis. Ask yourself, when was the last time you actually spent at least 30 minutes working on your stroke? When was the last time you worked on your green reading skills? Being able to do this well will give you the confidence you need; otherwise, it is very easy to lose your confidence.
Having a strong foundation with your setup and alignment is a good start to improving your putting. Being shown how to read greens correctly will build your confidence on the line you have chosen, and being shown the right technique will help you get the ball on the line you have chosen.I am happy to help you with all these aspects, as they vary with all levels of players. No matter what your handicap is, your putting can always become the best part of your game, which in return will help you improve your scoring and handicap.
I have a putting program which is called SAM Puttlab. Once you are on this program you will be able to see how good your alignment, stroke path, impact position is. You will then be given drills to help you work on your stroke. I would love to help you gain the confidence to putt the way you dream of putting.
