The sport of golf is a game that can show ones character. It is a real test of ones physical and mental strength.
The golf swing is very unique to each golfer. You will not find two golfers with the same swing. Each player is different with the same goal…..to get the ball in the hole with the fewest shots.
There are golfers that hit the ball longer than others, there are golfers that chip better than others, and there are golfers that putt better than others…but knowing and understanding how to get the ball in the hole with the fewest shots is still the primary goal.
In the golf swing there are elements that need to be the same. There are golfers which like to hit the ball high, there are golfers that like to hit the ball low, there are golfers that like to pitch and run and others that like to lob the ball. Each of these styles are fine as long as you believe in your skill.
The problem that golfers who play on the same course on a regular basis with very little practice, all have a common trait. They can tell you what club they hit on each hole. This is not a good thing because you get into habits instead of actually accessing your situation each time you play a hole and then making the correct club selection.
It is important to get your game analyzed so you know what makes you hit your good shots and poor shots. Understanding your game will give you the confidence and belief in your game that you need to play the shots you want to play.
Many golfers will comment on how they have been playing well and then suddenly they lose their swing. It is not that they have lost their swing, it is that their compensating swing does not work anymore. You need to find what swing patterns work for you. What your fellow golfer does might suit him but not you.
That is why it is important for you to understand what will work for you long term rather than for now.
When you go play a shot, you need to ask yourself, what do I need to do in my swing to get the result I want? Do I need to rotate my hips, do I need to tuck my right elbow in, do I need to take the club on the inside…etc….? You need to understand what makes you create the shots you want. Once you get a clear understanding your game will become more consistent and more enjoyable.
Then next question you need to ask yourself is, are my clubs matching my skill level and physical capabilities? It does not matter what handicap level you are or what age you are, getting fitted for clubs will help you enjoy your game and get the forgiveness that you want in your shots.
