Golf is a game where people around the world can participate. Everyone around the world has a different view of the importance of golf in their life. Some people see golf as an outing in a nice environment with a few friends having a laugh, where others play the game as their life career.
Golf is a game that is tough to perfect, yet a game that is there to be played. Clearly, we understand that golf has different aspects that need to be mastered such as tee shots, putting, chipping, bunkers and so forth, but there are two aspects that seem to be taken for granted.
I believe that fitness and decision making gets taken for granted. Both of these areas actually work hand in hand because if you are not fit, the chances are that you will fatigue during the round which will hurt your decision making. You will not think about your club selection correctly, you will make lazy choices, which in the end, will hurt your score.
Eating well during your round and drinking the correct fluids will keep your energy up and help you get through your round in a better physical and mental state, which will help you make a good club selection and a good swing. It is hard to make a solid swing, as you would at the start of your round, if you have lost your energy towards the end of
your round. All you need is one lazy swing resulting in a poor shot, which can unhinge your score that you have worked hard to put together for about 13/14 holes.
Eating fruit during your round and drinking a combination of water and a sports drink can really help keep your hydration up and your energy levels up.
On the other hand, if you are not too concerned about your round because all you want is to have fun with your friends, where the score is not a factor during the round, then you are entitled to drink and eat whatever you like, as long as you keep up the speed of play during the round.
As mentioned above, there are different levels of golf where golfers play for a living and others who just play for fun. The secret ingredient for golfers to become successful is to enjoy your game. I see many people who play golf like their life is on the line. This usually will make you very tense which will add pressure to your shot making and decision making.
Golf can be related to a successful business person or a successful gambler. The secret that these people have over others, is that they are confident in themselves, they are calm, and they are do not show any fear. When someone has these qualities, they increase their chances for success. Someone who is too intense, doubts their ability, and tries to manipulate their shots rather than trust their club selection and swing, may hit the occasional good shot, but they will play more poor shots and make many mental errors.
