Today I am going to write seven aspects of golf that you need to achieve to improve your game. Do your best…that is all I ask!
- Putting:
This part of the game is critical in your scoring. All that putting requires is confidence, a creative mind (so you can read greens), consistent stroke. There are simple drills that I can help you improve your skill. - Chipping:
This area of your game can help you save your game from a poor score or simple assist you in taking advantage of good lead up shots to the green. Having the correct wedge lofts and bounce can help you get the most out of your wedges. Ball position is important here…..having the wrong ball position in your stance can really hurt your shot quality and consistency. - Bunker Play:
I feel that having a solid technique in the bunker will give you confidence with your fairway shots. I feel that if you know in your mind that your bunker play is solid, you will find yourself taking on tough pin placements because you will know that if your shot doesn’t go to plan, you have the skill set to save your score. Having the correct posture and correct ball position will enhance your chances of getting the ball out correctly.
- Iron Play:
Hitting your irons well is important in helping you score well. The problem that most golfers have when hitting irons is that they take less club than what is required to get the ball to the desired target. Hitting down into the ball and taking a divot will help give you strong contact on the ball plus it will assist with consistent accuracy. Make sure you have the correct shafts and lie angles in your irons….it can make the difference in your game! - Long irons, Hybrids, fairway woods:
These clubs are to be approached the same way. They have very little loft and they are longer than most clubs. These clubs needs to be treated with respect. Most players try to hits these clubs hard to gain distance, but because these clubs are longer, all you need to do is swing smoothly and hit down on the ball as you would with your irons. Do not try to scoop the ball up into the air! - The Driver:
This club can really set you up to score well. Having the correct shaft and loft on your driver can really help maximize your distance and accuracy. Teeing the ball at the correct height and hitting the ball on an ascending angle will help give you an advantage when starting each golf hole. - The Mental Game:
This is your fifteenth club. Being confident and positive and understanding your swing will help you deal with every situation. Not being positive can make you play and miss the most simple of shots. Learning to clear your mind before each shot is a discipline that you need to work on to help you be at your best!
