The winning formula

By admin · On July 1, 2014

When watching golf professionals play it is very obvious that they all hit it roughly the same with their irons and woods. Some may hit it further or shorter, but overall, the ball striking is fairly similar.

The difference between the winner and the person that makes the cut can be put down to various points.

Confidence is the main point that needs to be looked at. No matter how stable a players golf swing is, if they do not have the confidence to execute their shot, they will not score well.

On the other hand, you may have a player that has an average swing, but a great confidence in their game, the chances are, this player will score better on a consistent basis because they are confident in their golf swing.

This player will beat the player with a great swing but low confidence 8/10 times!

Another point is to work on your short game. It was clear to see that the players at the top of the leader board chipped, pitched and putted well. They were able to save a bad situation because they were able to get up and down and save par.

Working on your short game can really save you shots. It is nice to hit a long drive straight, but it won’t matter if you take another 5 shots from there until you get the ball in the hole.

Working on your golf swing is important, because you need to understand what your golf swing requires for you to get your desired result. You don’t need to swing it like a professional, but you can work at doing the best with what you have got. A player may not hit the ball a long way, but if you have a sharp short game you can achieve par.

I know I keep saying this, but making sure you have the right wedges for your game can make a bigger difference to your game than you can imagine. There is no reason why anyone can not chip as good as a professional.

Making sure you have a good grip, stance, good angle of attack and a square club face at impact can make all the difference. It is easy to hit a chip and pitch shot, but it is knowing how to do it the right way that can build your confidence.
